Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the most unique resorts on the Walt Disney World property.  A slice of Africa right in the heart of Florida, you will be immersed in African culture, surrounded by African animals roaming the outskirts of the grounds, authentic African cuisine, and unique themed activities. As one of Walt Disney World’s deluxe resorts, you will enjoy the highest standard of that legendary Disney hospitality.

Located adjacent to Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is also convenient to all other walt Disney World parks and activities.  Convenient, free bus transportation will take you to Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Downtown Disney.

Being in such close proximity to all of the Disney magic, however, does not take away from the authenticity of your stay at the Lodge.  It does not hurt that there are more than 200 African animals roaming on the savannah that runs along much of the property!

The employees are largely from African nations, and are more than happy to speak to you about their native nations.  The decor is faithful, and the attention to detail is staggering.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a huge resort, with 972 guest rooms, but you never feel overwhelmed by its size.  Guests can choose from standard rooms with either pool views, savannah views, or arusha views.  Standard rooms have queen beds and/or bunk beds, which are perfect for the kids.

Deluxe guest rooms are suites with one or two bedrooms with savannah views.

Decorated in rich woods and dark earth tones, feelings of slumbering high in a treetop on safari are evoked.  The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are equipped with entertainment centers, refrigerators, and a spacious bathroom.

You don’t have to leave Animal Kingdom Lodge to enjoy a great meal!  The Lodge features an upscale restaurant, Jiko, which serves up a delightful menu with an African flair.  Boma – Flavors of Africa, is an amazing buffet that offers a wide variety of African dishes, including roasted meats, couscous dishes, unique vegetable offerings, and a huge dessert buffet.  Sanaa offers delicious African dishes with an Indian touch.  There is also The Mara, a quick service food court style area that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Two lounges and a pool bar round out the dining selections at the Lodge.

You could spend your entire holiday at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and never run out of things to do!  Two incredible African-themed pools featuring water slides are on property for cooling off after a hot day of park hopping.  There is an arcade and playground, and Simba’s Cubhouse, an indoor child care facility for guests.  Take an opportunity for a romantic dinner, while the kids get to play games with trained child care professionals!

Activities abound for the kids!  There are pool parties, games, and the Jambo House Campfire, where you can roast marshmallows while listening to African folk tales and songs.  Everyone will enjoy the Sunrise Safari and Animal Encounters after dark.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge might just be the most unique Disney resort, featuring authentic African fun for the entire family!
